Meadery in Brocton, Illinois

5★ 26 Google reviews 10th most reviewed of 10 in Illinois

Treehive is a small batch meadery. That has won multiple awards throughout the United States and even one from Canada. Mead is an alcoholic drink made from honey and is our main drink. But we also have cider, wine, beer, cocktails, bourbon, soda, honey and serve Butch's pizzas. We are kid friendly and pet friendly. We can open by appointment through the week when possible. Also available for private parties. Stop on in and check us out. We are a hidden gem hidden in East Central Illinois.

New to mead?

What Is a Meadery?

A meadery is a place that makes mead, which is wine made from honey. Here is what that means in practice, and what you will find if you walk into one.

Is Mead Wine or Beer?

Mead is wine. It ferments from honey rather than grain, and federal law regulates it under the wine rules, even when it is poured in a taproom that feels like a brewery.

Types of Mead Explained

Melomel, metheglin, cyser, braggot. The words on a meadery tasting list all mean the same thing: mead, plus whatever went in alongside the honey.
