Amber Dragon is a local microbrewery specializing in honey wine/mead. With a family atmosphere designed to be inviting with a Nordic Viking theme. We produce a traditionally made mead using only organic sourced honey and no chemicals. Everything is made with natural flavors that are imparted directly from the fruit, herbs and spices used. Bees capture the rays of sunshine that produce pollen then convert that into honey. Honey is then made into a unique intoxicating beverage that will leave you warm and fuzzy. It’s not about pushing a product out there to make money. This is a labor of love that is inspired by our intense love of honey. Stop in and enjoy the experience.

What Is a Meadery?

A meadery is a place that makes mead, which is wine made from honey. Here is what that means in practice, and what you will find if you walk into one.

Is Mead Wine or Beer?

Mead is wine. It ferments from honey rather than grain, and federal law regulates it under the wine rules, even when it is poured in a taproom that feels like a brewery.

Types of Mead Explained

Melomel, metheglin, cyser, braggot. The words on a meadery tasting list all mean the same thing: mead, plus whatever went in alongside the honey.
